General Characteristics: Waputik Icefield is located at the south end of
Wapta Icefield. Waputik is approximately 52km2 and straddles the contiental divide between Balfour Pass and Kicking Horse Pass about 20km NW of Lake Louise (CME, 2005). Balfour Pass is the boundary between Waputik and the larger Wapta Icefield. The meltwaters from Waputik feed two river systems: Bow Rivier, and Yoho/Kicking Horse River. Most of the icefield drains westward throuhg Daly Glacier with much of the remainder flowing northward in Balfour Glacier.
