General Information:
Balfour Glacier is a major northward flowing glacier on the Alberta side of the Waputik Icefield. The glacier drains east into Hector Lake and the Bow River (Ommanney, 2000).

History:
The maximum ice stand occured in 1947. The recession rates averaged 10ma-1 from the late 1840s-1900 and then increased four times between 1900-1948. Since 1948 the recession has been almost negligible (Ommanney, 2002).
