Southern British Columbia has been influenced by glacial activity continuously for the several thousand years. Glaciers flow from the Coastal and Rocky Mountains, where they originate in large ice fields. Coastal British Columbia, specifically the southern portion (from Vancouver to Prince Rupert), is home to thousands of glaciersglaciers, many of which are valley glaciers. Each of these work to erode the deep glacial valleys and deposit sedimentary structures thatsediment, createcreating the characteristic featuresdeposits and structures of the Coastal Mountains.
