British Columbia and Yukon- B.C. Coast South - Canadian Glacier Inventory Project
Southern British Columbia has been influenced by glacial activity continuously for several thousand years. Glaciers flow from the Coastal and Rocky Mountains, where they originate in large ice fields. Coastal British Columbia, specifically the southern portion (from Vancouver to Prince Rupert), is home to thousands of glaciers, many of which are valley glaciers. Each of these work to erode deep glacial valleys and deposit sediment, creating the characteristic deposits and structures of the Coastal Mountains. This site examines major concentrations of glacial activity in the South Coastal Mountains of BC, including: Garibaldi Provincial Park, the Waddington Region, and the Lillooet Icefield.
